THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS NOW CLOSED: Please ‘like’ our Facebook page for more sweepstakes and Internet security tips.

We know that what we protect is more than information on your hard drives. It’s the precious memories in your digital images and videos. It’s the peace of mind that comes with knowing your personal and work documents are secure. It’s the security of knowing that your credit card will work the next time you use it, and there won’t be any strange charges on your next bill.

To celebrate the launch of F-Secure Internet Security 2013 and how we protect you, we’re giving away an HP Pavilion Laptop g6-1d80nr 15.6 inch laptop protected by Internet Security 2013.

All you have to do is answer the following question in the comments of this post: What on your computer do you care about protecting most?

Is it a specific photo, a game, a video, a file? Be as specific or general as you’d like to be.

Just read the rules for this sweepstakes and post your answer below for your chance to win.

Cheers,

Sandra

I need to protect all of the many people who I am in contact with via email, Facebook, etc. Also very important to me is the very precious notations I have in a online journal. Including attachments, pictures, etc. I have two of my sisters that have passed away, my oldest sister almost 3 years ago and my next to the youngest sister that just passed away April 8th,2012…less than 6 months ago and I have many many pictures and a private journal that I would be devastated if I were to lose ANY of the many pictures and private thoughts I have stored on my computer.

I want to protect my life and my life is on my computer! Everything from personal information to banking. If my computer is protected my identity is safe and so are the people I send messages to. I know I can send pictures and attachments that are not riddled with a virus.

I definitely want to protect all of the contents of my computer not only because of the files that I need for my job, but also because most of whats in it are digital memories that I value the most, and I do not save those things on social websites so that I have the ultimate control as to who sees them.

Q: What on your computer do you care about protecting most?

A: My passwords. My passwords are the keys for everything on my life. I can backup my files to dont lose, i can reinstall the windows if it get broken by a viruse, i can download again all of my programs, but i can\’t lose my passwords.
If a viruse or hacker get my passwords, all doors of my life will be opened, and i dont want it. In my email, per example, i have bank account emails, password recovery for all my online accounts on everything (including cloud services to backup files), government emails, paypal emails, many online accounts, emails from my girlfriend, from my friends, family, office, facebook, etc. As you can see, nothing matters for me more than my passwords for all online services. So, i use F-Secure Internet Security to protect ME on the internet. I worry about my self protection while surfing on the web. I worry about my life on my computer and internet, and F-secure protects me with many features (av database, software features, heuristics, bank protection, cloud protection, etc.). F-secure it\’s required for everyone that dont want to be a new victim of the online crime.

I have already experienced what it is like to be victimized by a devastating pc virus. I also know firsthand the greif of paying money for anti – virus that does not perform as advertised. So, therefore, most important to me, besides the treasured photos stored in the pc, is the entire pc itself.

I care most about images and I am worried to lose all the digital shots and scans that I did.
There are drawers filled with negative films from the 80′s still looking wonderful today and photos I took years ago with digital camera that are already lost or corrupted.
Losing photos is equal to lose visual memories and this pi**es me off like crazy.
I continuously save images and backup visual data from older media to new one (CD to DVD, DVD to Hard Disks, HD to newer HD and so on..) and the lowering quality of modern memory units worries me a lot.

I backup lots of stuff to external hard disks as I have a lot of computer related hobbies, such as digital photography and film making. They tend to hog up filespace pretty quickly if you let them.
Although they’ve been backupped to external harddrives, there’s always something you forget to backup.
I spend my days browsing the internet, playing games, chatting online and trying out different applications, services and such. I’ve even hosted a web radio couple of times.
During these daily adventures to the digital world and Internet, you tend to hastily save some data here and some data there. Perhaps a file you’ll “propably never need, but just in case…”

Losing all this would really annoy me, as I would have to do lots of stuff again just because I lost the original thing.

I care most about images and I am worried to lose all the digital shots and scans that I did.
There are drawers filled with negative films from the 80\’s still looking wonderful today and photos I took years ago with digital camera that are already lost or corrupted.
Losing photos is equal to lose visual memories and this pi**es me off like crazy.
I continuously save images and backup visual data from older media to new one (CD to DVD, DVD to Hard Disks, HD to newer HD and so on..) and the lowering quality of modern memory units worries me a lot.

Due to the convenience and functionality of digital cameras and cell phone cameras, most of my family pictures are being stored on my hard drive and don’t get printed. I have accumulated many years of pictures from special occasions, family functions and spur of the moment photos. I’d be devastated if anything were to happen to that vast collection of a decade’s worth of pictures. I had an incident with a 35MM camera years ago where the film didn’t advance properly and I didn’t have any pictures of my ailing mother; that still haunts me.

On my computer, I have pictures of the nice people in my life such as my nieces, nephews and my little cousins that I got permission to download from Facebook from my relatives. In addition, I also have Facebook relationships with both my natural family and my stepfamily. I feel that it is worth protecting because if a hacker or a piece of malicious software were to get access to my computer in any way, shape or form, they would get access to the pictures of my nieces, nephews, and little cousins and could do things that could affect their safety such as using the pictures to make child pornography or for tracking their identity which can lead to more crimes against them such as cybercriminals invading their house and subjecting them to serious harm such as physical harm and the like (think of the movie “Firewall” starring Harrison Ford).

In addition, my Facebook relationships with my family members are also worth protecting because I do not want to get infected and send them malicious software via e-mail or be liable for hacking into their computers and identities. I do not want to have every Christmas, every New Years, every Fourth of July, every Thanksgiving, and every other nice moment from my family taken away from them due to my own negligence and carelessness.. As the old adage goes, “Ignorance is no excuse”

Thus, I feel it is my duty to do whatever it takes to protect my family and anything dealing with my family and I am willing to get the best all-around protection to help safeguard these things because if my family and anything and everything that belongs to its members is safe and secure, everything will be a LOT more fun and during times when my family is together and we are enjoying our time, the safety of that enjoyment is guaranteed.

never really felt the importance of data and what it meant until i lost a 250gig HDD at 90% of its capacity with my personal and not so personal data, years of making, collecting, downloading, contacts, logs, work, books, passwords, memories, all kinds of photos, and videos. too much irreplaceable data and time. before this experience i would had said the cpu or the most expensive piece of hardware on my machine at the time, but without doubt HDD is the most important thing a PC have, for everything else is replaceable at a its cost.

Almost everything on a computer is equally valuable to someone, so there is no need to define the Most Important or the Most Precious. Loss of data is a nasty thing to happen, no matter how trivial it may look to someone else (my hard drive broke once a few years ago, so I know what I’m talking about) As for me, I would like to protect my photos, music, job related documents and passwords. Basically – everything :)
Anyways, thanks for the giveaway, a nice gesture for sure!

Regardless of the Files, privacy is not easy to protect anymore when you are online, especially those trackers, its not enough to install 1 or more privacy software anymore, so that’s why you either install and slows down your computer, or rather install F-Secure

Since I run F-Secure IS 2012 (and common sense) on my computer, I’m not very scared of losing stuff, at least not via scammers, viruses or phising. The worst thing that could happen is a hardware failure, that could make my documents and 19 000+ photos disappear. On the other hand; the newly bought NAS keeps them backuped from now on. My passwords are safe via lastpass.com.

The photos and documents would be my answer otherwise.

Well, it’s always nice to have a protection on my device, as I do not like my private videos, photos, and text data to be viewed by anyone. No one would like that. But good solution makes the access to them without proper permission impossible. F-Secure certainly goes in a good way to improve anyone’s protection, because of its many AV engines, one of them containing famous BitDefender engine, which provides the whole suite with good protection capabilities.

My son on more than one occasion going to on line game spots has been alerted to possible invasion attempts and F-Secure has kept his computer clean. My computer had an email block come up from a bug even before it was out on the news! I am working with non-profit organizations, particularly those benefiting children, youth and other vulnerable community members. Over time I have accumulated on my hard drive an impressive library of free resources for social change, such as approaches, methods and materials (e-books, brochures, media etc). I share these materials to improve people’s lives and make positive changes in the society. The investment of time and effort in this collection was very considerable. This is why I care most about the folder, which contains the resource collection. Thank you for the chance to participate in this amazing give-away. I hope that I won’t have to worry in 2013, having the protection of F-Secure and an improved storage space!

I’m an advanced practice nurse working with children. In terms of medical applications for medical files remotely that could be accessed by the school nurse for example security is always of primary concern to ensure protection and compliance with HIPPA. . Though
the direct systems we used are secure it’s applying the applications remotely within our community for the children’s well being that presents interest for security and remote access. This could apply to children involved in sports programs, outdoor activities e.g. scouting. By having immediate secure access it provides an integrated and collaborative system in caring for our children within the community. Not all non profit organizations and especially in rural health can afford the sophisticated medical applications on the market which restricts access so security is key to success for a greater number.
