Get Real Sweepstakes: Week 11 — Win an iPod Touch and Internet Security

Threats & Hacks

UPDATE: This sweepstakes is now closed. The winner will be contacted and then announced. LIKE our Facebook page for more giveaways and online safety tips.

Cyber Monday sparks the beginning of the holiday online shopping season. Since 2005, the Monday after Black Friday in the United States has become recognized as the day when the most people shop online. And this is no secret to cybercriminals who continue to target overeager shoppers.

Every year the most desired gifts become lures criminals use to trick us into scams and malware. That’s why a couple of weeks ago we asked you which gifts you believe will be most popular this year.

Here are the gifts you said will be most popular/dangerous this year:

  1. Kinect for Xbox 360
  2. Apple iPad and iPod
  3. PlayStation 3

Be extra careful when searching for these extra hot gifts. Here are 7 other online safety tips that you should read before you start any online shopping spree.

One reason we are more vulnerable to online scams during the holidays is because we’re in such a hurry. In fact, that’s why Cyber Monday is so huge—millions of people sneak their shopping in while at work. And many of us are stressed because we’re shopping for so many people.

This week’s question is: How many people are you shopping for this year?

Read the rules and post your answer in the comments below for your chance to an iPod touch and  F-Secure Internet Security 2011.

BONUS ENTRY: You’re eligible for an extra entry. Complete this quick survey about online shopping and then post “Survey completed” in an ADDITIONAL comment for another chance to win. If you completed the shopping survey already, you’re still eligible for an extra entry this week if you post the additional comment.

Cheers,
Sandra

I’m shopping just for three maybe ten or more if I go to see my uncles and aunties during the holidays.

3 🙂 did an purchase from dell 🙂 after knowing that i did an safe online purchase my friends asked me to purchase for them & gave money to me 🙂

I’ll just be getting gifts for my sister’s small children, all 2 of them.
And maybe something for myself.

There is my husband, son and about 20-25 family and friends. I try to combine people if I can and buy one gift where applicable.

I’m shopping for six people this year. It might not seem like many but a couple of toughies ;).

I’m hunting gifts for 7 person, lucky 7 I would say including the a co-worker of mine whom I had picked through a raffle, fun tradition here in my country which we locally dubbed “Manito/Manita”. The gift will be given during our company’s Christmas party. c”,

I’m shopping for 11, but shopping for 4 of those twice since I’m doing the shopping for my mom as well

I have many people on the list because I love to make gifts for Christmas. and survey completed

I havent even started the shopping yet due to low funds. Hoping that everything will be fixed by next week 😉

I’m really over the shopping list as I think it should be with family and friends so we just celebrate it.

I am shopping for my granddaughter and immediate family and one best friend. So – 7 people.

Now that our family has grown so big (well, we were big to start with but now there are nephews, nieces, etc) we’ve stopped shopping for the grown ups and we only shop for the kids. However, I will get something small for my fiance and my parents and we always have a white elephant gift exchange to make it fun.. so I guess I’m shopping for 6 gifts.

I’m shopping for around 10 people this year, doing my best to get things done early so as to not be rushed.

I seem to be shopping for more people this year than last. Best guess without counting my list would be 14 people.

Shopping for 4 ppl. And I know all of them. No illigal shopper on my computer. 😉
